Social Projects Group

Rajah & Tann is also committed to reaching out to the less fortunate at the ground level, contributing our time and energy over and above monetary donations. Our Social Projects group was formed with the aim of identifying a worthy cause and organizing events to help in a personal and meaningful way. Lawyers and staff alike plan and take part in these activities, providing a hands-on contribution to the chosen cause.

The current cause that has been chosen by our Social Projects committee and our partners is the Canossaville Children’s Home. Our staff volunteers organized a wonderful birthday party for the children, complete with food, games and a motivational speaker. We have also organised as an educational trip for the children to a fruit and vegetable farm. Of course, we are continually looking to plan larger and greater events for the children of Canossaville.

The Social Projects team hopes to widen its outreach and adopt more children’s homes within its ambit. We look forward to bringing Rajah & Tann’s personal brand of passion and care to even more of those in need.

Other Charitable Efforts

Apart from Rajah & Tann’s CSR commitments, our people are also active in their own individual charitable activities. You can see just a few examples below.

Commercial Litigation partner Francis Xavier S.C. is personally involved in a number of projects. He has organised musical support for struggling families by performing in gigs for charity, the proceeds of which go to Family Aid Vouchers. He is also active in a range regional and international charitable projects, which he undertakes under the banner of Rotary. Francis has won an international award for a project (for tribes) in Chiang Rai. And he established the All One Foundation to provide a home for girls rescued from vice.

Cheng Yoke Ping, a partner in our Corporate and Capital Markets practice, and her husband spent almost seven years in Indonesia, working on a vast variety of community development projects in West Nusa Tenggara.

Kala Anandarajah, who heads our Competition practice, set up BikeAid Singapore, which continues to collect funds for charities. She also sits on the National Transplant Ethics Committee Independent Panel formed by the MOH.

Chandra Mohan, a partner in our Commercial litigation practice, sits on the committee on Bursary Fund for needy students from the ACS family of schools.
